Thoughts to Ponder

This new feature at Our House Church (dot com) is a page where different points of view and topics can be posted and shared with the "cyber-church-at-large". If you have a paper , a poem, etc. to submit (original thoughts, please), send it to the webservant via the link provided on the "Contact" page.

Since this page rarely gets any attention, I decided to use it as a blog site since it seems to be the latest "thing" these days. If you'd like to comment on something I write or submit your own thoughts, click HERE.

The following are thoughts and prayers as I meditated on a verse in Isaiah on the topic of Fasting.

Isaiah 58:6

"Is this not the fast which I choose, to loosen the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free and break every yoke?

"Is this not the fast which I choose"

I chose this fast to beg You to intervene on behalf of David & Kristen; to end their suffering and lift the darkness that has engulfed Kristen and blinded her to the light of salvation. Zech 4:6b "Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the LORD of hosts.

"to loosen the bonds of wickedness,"

Lord, I pray that you forbid the enemy access to David, Kristen & the girls. I ask You to rebuke Satan and put a hedge around their whole family. Send angels to protect the girls from harm and cast out the demons at work in 29 Palms, CA. Open the blinded eyes of judges, lawyers and other gov't officials; put righteous judgments in their mouths.

"to undo the bands of the yoke,"

Father, please lift the heavy yoke of despair from David's shoulders. Take him into Your arms and carry him to a place of peace and trust in You. Release him from fear, frustration, doubt and hopelessness.

"and to let the oppressed go free"

Father, my request is that You set Kristen free from the bondage of her sin. And set her free from the pain of feeling unloved. Jesus, let her know Your love and forgiveness better, even, than she knows how to numb her own pain.

"and break every yoke"

Not only do I ask that the burdens be lifted, but I ask that You break them; never again to be imposed. Let the healing be complete and eternal. Bring about a revival in their family and in 29 Palms that evicts the enemy and lays waste to his strong-holds.

"Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the LORD of hosts."

I cannot help but feel that David and Kristen are going through much more than the typical 21st Century marital strife brought on by the ME mentality and aggravated by David's two tours in the Middle East.

The darkness we hear about down there is so thick you could cut it with a chain saw.

Eph 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual {forces} of wickedness in the heavenly {places.} (NAU)

I also cannot shake the impression that Kristen is not the enemy here; she's one of the victims. While David and the girls are being hurt and feel trapped by their situation, Kristen is truly enslaved to her sin. I pray for David's heart and their daughters' safety, but I am compelled to pray for Kristen's release from her captors and only God knows the names of the all things that hold Kristen in bondage.

Christ came to set the captives free so that we might be dead to sin but alive to God (Eph 4:8 Romans 6:18)
